My boyfriend Hunter is visiting me this week in the city for his spring break! Yet ever since he’s arrived it has been raining non-stop. Boo! We’re making the best of it.
I don’t know about you, but when it’s raining all I want to do is to eat some delicious comfort food, watch movies, and sleep. San Francisco is known for being a foodie haven, so the moment the rained paused we hopped on the M-line and headed to Sweet Maple.
We have been planning to go here for the past year, and finally made it. They don’t take reservations on the weekends, but it’s definitely worth the hour long wait.
First we each started off with their Sweet Mimosa (fresh raspberry lemonade + champagne). Hunter ordered the Blackstone Benedict. The Blackstone Benedict is an english muffin topped with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, Millionaire’s bacon and Meyer-lemon. I ordered the Big Hip, a deep fried slice of french toast topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries and powdered sugar. I felt like I was at the fair eating a funnel cake. We each got a side order of their Millionaire’s bacon – yes it’s that good.
The Millionaire’s bacon is their most popular item on the menu. The bacon is made from thick, free range bacon, baked with brown sugar, cayenne, black and red pepper. The bacon is then topped with maple syrup. Easily the best bacon I have ever tasted.
If you are in the San Francisco area and find your way over to the Fillmore District, I highly recommend trying out Sweet Maple. They have a big menu, fast service, and breakfast that is not only to die for, but served all day from 8:00am-3:00pm.
